Employee discussions are an important element of staff management. These are structured confidential one-to-one talks between a manager and an employee, which serve in maintaining a regular exchange between the two.

Employee discussions support the development of employees as well as managers. They are a tool for reviewing and addressing an employee’s work results and agreeing on future steps.

In contrast to daily talks, which often come up spontaneously in response to current happenings, structured employee discussions require conscious preparation to ensure that they are as productive as possible.
Employee discussions have to be conducted with cultural sensitivity to ensure that they are goal-oriented. It is therefore important for managers to know their own communication style and to develop new behavioural options in dealing with different personalities and cultural imprints.

Our “Employee Discussions” training teaches you successful methods and gives you background information on cultural and psychological aspects which enable you to effectively design employee discussions and direct them in a professional manner.

TOPICS

  • Holding Successful Development Discussions
  • Motivation Discussions; Intrinsic and Extrinsic Methodology
  • Critical Issues: Discussion Techniques for Demanding Situations

Change management is a conscious control process aimed at successfully implementing new strategies, structures, and processes in an organisation by implementing the corresponding measures.

Particularly in international environments, constant changes in a company’s internal sequences and processes are necessary to maintain long-term success on the market. Communicating these changes to employees in a timely and appropriate manner is a central management duty.

A manager must be able to motivate and support his/her employees through every change phase, regardless of how he or she actually feels about the situation. This is only possible when managers know the psychological backgrounds of typical behaviours and are capable of controlling their own feelings and emotions, especially when they are affected by the changes themselves.

The objective is to introduce changes in a culturally sensitive manner and to communicate and professionally manage the process in a culturally appropriate way with as little detriment to current operations as possible.
Our “Communicating Change” training shows you how to conscientiously communicate changes in an intercultural environment. You learn to recognise and address the psychological aspects of changes.

In the business context coaching means developing oneself and others, recognising potential and supervising business processes.

There is no longer any disputing the fact that coaching as a management skill makes an important contribution to successful management and therefore to a company’s success. The primary aim of coaching is to increase the motivation and performance capability of employees.
Management places special demands on the coach’s person. Coaches must develop communication styles suitable for making targeted discussions possible. They must be able to act and react appropriately.

One’s own personality plays a major role in all of this. Only people who reflect on and can control their own behaviour are capable of helping others expand their own abilities, change their behaviour in a solution-oriented fashion, make decisions, fix problems and find new paths.
In relation to multicultural situations this means having the ability to expand one’s own behavioural repertoire, particularly in regard to cultural value systems, through sharpened self-perception and the perception of others.
This basic seminar gives you an overview of coaching in professional daily life and the opportunity to try out the initial basic techniques. Specific aspects of the training can be intensified and deepened in accordance with the customer’s needs.
The willingness to further develop one’s self and to accept others on an equal footing is an important prerequisite for participation in this training.

Intercultural teams are characterised by a high degree of creativity and flexibility. But they also inherently contain very high levels of conflict potential.

As an international manager you have to know the values that people in other cultures hold, the things that influence their behaviour and what leadership means in other cultures.

Different expectations are placed on managers depending on the cultural environment they work in. They have to be able to develop new behavioural options in order to tackle demanding situations. The change of perspective needed for this requires the individual to examine his/her own personality and culture.

The only way to recognise and use the positive aspects of cultural diversity is to use techniques for communication and conflict management which take the international context into account. This will result in you and your team coming up with new, innovative and creative solutions.
In our “Leading Multicultural Teams” training you learn how to deal sensitively with people from other cultures and to develop new, individual options for your own conduct in your role as a manager.

The abilities to lead, motivate and encourage employees are general management skills. In an international environment the capability and willingness to change, the ability to maintain relationships and the capacity for empathy are also of crucial importance.

Different expectations are placed on managers depending on the cultural environment in which they are involved. But the knowledge of existing cultural differences alone is not enough for ideal employee management. There must also be an awareness of the influence of one’s own cultural imprint and a flexible behavioural repertoire enabling managers to treat employees from other cultures with appreciation, to motivate them and to successfully lead them.

Addressing the issues of your own leadership role and communication in an intercultural group will help you to find your own management style and subsequently impress others with your authenticity and self-confidence.
Our “International Leadership Skills” training teaches you successful management techniques and how to use and expand your strengths in your role as a manager in an international context.

Facilitation skill is the ability and talent to direct group processes so that the participants develop the solution for a problem and its implementation.

International groups place the greatest demands on your flexibility as a facilitator. You need to be sensitive to different international communication rules. Only then can you successfully develop a constructive working environment and produce solutions of very high quality that enjoy broad acceptance.
Facilitators have to draw on their cognitive and emotional resources and use their energy to keep things on track. When they do this successfully, facilitators can not only manage the designated challenges, but also motivate the group to work together constructively, even in difficult situations. This also includes moderating in a virtual environment.

This seminar teaches you efficient facilitation approaches and methods, which enable you to develop solutions and implement work results in an intercultural group.

Presentation skills are the ability to depict and convey content in an understandable, engaging way. A good presenter is characterised by confidence, rhetorical talent and persuasiveness.

You have an effect wherever you appear. You are always communicating, either verbally or non-verbally. With presentations, while their structure and optical appearance are important, the most important factor is the effect you have personally as a presenter. To have a successful, appealing presentation you have to win the respect and trust of the audience. You also have to be able to appear in a self-confident and poised manner, even in difficult situations.
Your recipe for presentation success is to combine your personality with the appropriate techniques for radiating charisma.
And if you are holding a presentation before an international audience you should also be familiar with some of the codes and essential elements of intercultural communication that are fundamentally important for building a relationship with your audience.
Using media for virtual, pan-national communication presents further challenges for presenters.

In our “Presentation Skills” training you learn to give engaging, entertaining presentations, successfully convey information and convince audiences of your viewpoint.

Self-management describes a person’s ability to consciously influence his/her own behaviour in order to improve his/her productivity and performance capability. The associated criteria include recognising and controlling one’s own individual stress level and time budget.

The demands of the international working environment are characterised by a constantly growing range of duties, an increasing workload and sensory overload. Our daily lives are filled with quick decision-making informed by a flood of information.
To meet these demands and still carve out free space, new capacities and periods of relaxation, people have to effectively manage themselves and their time. A balance between one’s professional and private life produces greater satisfaction and increases performance capability.
“Leading starts with oneself”: Self-management requires self-observation, self-instruction, defining goals and objectives, self-motivation, independence and self-control. It is necessary to recognise one’s own working methodology and gain an awareness of one’s personal strengths and weaknesses in order to develop individual strategies for attaining one’s goals.

In addition, it is essential in an international work environment to know how other cultures conceptualize time and how they “typically” go about their work. It is also important to be able to react flexibly to these factors so that intercultural collaboration can function properly.
In our “Self-Management” seminars you learn practical working techniques and methods and you define your objectives and develop your own solution strategies in international business.

Networking skills are abilities that are decisive for successful, modern relationship management. Active networking is the basis for a range of different types of social contacts and the effective use of social relationships in business. Building and maintaining relationships is accomplished for the most part through targeted, appropriate communication.

A person’s own personality profile (reserved or gregarious, open or observant) plays as important a role as the perception, appreciation and acceptance of one’s own culture and those of others.

Successful relationship management in an international environment encounters a variety of challenges attributable both to cultural differences in values and customs and to spatial distance.

In this seminar you become acquainted with the principles of successful relationship management and develop your own personal strategies in an intercultural context.
